MediProtektor® – customized inlays for pneumatic tube carriers

Utility model protection registered / Patent pending / Brand name protected

In everyday clinical practice, medications, patient samples, and other sensitive goods are transported via pneumatic tube systems every day. This repeatedly leads to challenges: hard impacts or vibrations during transport can damage medications or samples, rendering them unusable. However, fast and secure patient care is of central importance.

In many hospitals, the central laboratory or the hospital pharmacy consumes valuable time resources because the shipping of medications or samples is not optimally organized. Damaged containers, broken medication packaging, or leaked blood samples cause additional cleaning effort, lead to loss of time, and increase operating costs.
Furthermore, the packaging material used within the pneumatic tube carriers is subject to high hygienic requirements and should be checked regularly. Unsuitable transport securing can quickly lead to avoidable disruptions and delays in clinical workflows.

MediProtektor®

Variants for pharmacy medication transport

Utility model protection registered

In everyday clinical practice, medications and other sensitive goods are transported via pneumatic tube systems every day. This repeatedly leads to challenges: hard impacts or vibrations during transport can damage medications or samples, rendering them unusable. Liquids could leak and contaminate the pneumatic tube system or stations.
However, fast and secure patient care is of central importance.

For the safe operation of hospital pharmacies, we have developed an extremely adaptable protective device. Medications and patient care materials in a wide variety of sizes and shapes can be securely accommodated.

We produce these products using additive manufacturing processes at our facility in Northern Germany. Our customers include renowned hospitals and university clinics.

MediProtektor®

Variants for the transport of blood cultures

Patent pending

In everyday clinical practice, blood culture bottles are transported daily via the hospital’s pneumatic tube system. Usually, two culture bottles are either placed directly and unprotected into the pneumatic tube carrier, or they are laboriously packed into sealable plastic zip bags. This involves a relatively large amount of time and generates large quantities of plastic waste every day. The effort required for loading is further increased in small pneumatic tube systems (110mm or 100mm), as two blood culture bottles in a plastic bag can often only be placed in the small carrier with difficulty. Depending on the design, size, and manufacturer of the carrier, this ranges from unsightly to very difficult/almost impossible. The culture bottles then lie close together without cushioning, so the risk of damage is high. For this reason, some clinics also use bubble wrap—this provides good protection but significantly increases daily plastic waste, disposable packaging costs, and the time required to send blood cultures.

Since fast and secure patient care is of central importance, our MediProtektor® for blood cultures is an economical and pioneering solution. Individually adapted to your needs and made of elastic and resistant material (TPU), it provides years of service—even in very high-frequency pneumatic tube systems.

Even more advantages…

shock-absorbing

energy-absorbing protection of the load to prevent damage or breakage of the transported goods

can be used in all pneumatic tube carriers

our protective packaging generally works with all standard pneumatic tube carriers on the market and is individually adapted to your needs

safe handling

color design supports safe and fast handling (e.g., red for the lower part, green for the movable lid, or alternatively as coding for different sample sizes)

no acceleration peaks

acceleration peaks caused by free fall, vibrations from tube routing, or hard impact on the floor, etc., are effectively dampened and sensitive samples (e.g., blood samples) are protected

more samples possible

the adaptable design concept allows for the secure accommodation of single as well as multiple different or similar samples or medications

even the smallest samples possible

up to two inserts create the possibility to safely transport even very small sample tubes, ampoules, etc. (e.g., pharmacy)
